Peter Jiménez Betts
Peter Jiménez (Rochester, Minnesota USA, 1957) has been a research professor at Centro INAH Zacatecas since 1991. He studied anthropology, specializing in archaeology, at the Universidad de Las Americas, Puebla, Mexico, and his doctorate is in archaeology at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He was the leader of the La Quemada Project from 1986 to 2006 (Villanueva, Zacatecas), and director of its museum from 1995 to 2007. Since 2008, he has been co-leader for the Cerro del Teúl project, in Teúl de González Ortega, Zacatecas. Among his recent publications is The Mesoamerican World System, 200-1200 CE. A Comparative Approach Analysis of West Mexico, published in 2020 by Cambridge University Press, which adds to a long list of academic texts, professional and dissemination reports on the sites where he has worked.
